We sit along the rushing river, we feel its power and its pressure. We watch as boaters go with the flow and against the flow and into the flow and through the flow. We watch them play and compete while our visit with nature is complete.

The Wild Mile & The Whitewater Festival

Each year the summer season officially begins in Bigfork with the annual Whitewater Festival. The festival has grown from a small-town event into one of international significance.
If you enjoy the Bigfork Whitewater Festival and the Wild Mile section of the Swan River, here is what you can do:
•Come to the festival and have a great time!
•Respect the restricted areas around the hydroelectric facility, including the spillway.
•Participate in the Silent Auction Saturday night at the Garden Bar. All proceeds will be used to assist in the effort to preserve the river, land, public access and the future of the Bigfork Whitewater Festival.
•Join American Whitewater.

Best of luck to all kayakers competing in this year’s Whitewater Festival, and to the athletes participating in the Triathlon. We’ll be there cheering you on!

The race is designed as a team relay triathlon. Biking is all pavement; boating is on calmer water; the run is about the same as previous year’s. The race will start at 9:00 a.m. at the River Ranch on Riverside Drive on the Flathead River (participants will be transported to the start of the race).
