Booster Club Annual Raffle 2002

Photos & Story by Jim Jackson

Despite the cold rainy weather, everyone had a great time at the party. Once again the annual Booster Club fundraiser was a resounding success. Although a full accounting of the event was not complete at press time, organizers were guessing that the raffle raised around $13,000 for the students’ extracurricular activities.
Dominic and Caroline Kovacevic were the $10,000 winners and in keeping with the incredible generosity of the evening, they promptly donated back $1,000 of their winnings. Fred Hansen won the $1,000 prize. Rita Hall sold the winning ticket and many of the small prize winners donated their winnings to the buy a meter program for the proposed new all-weather track. We will have a detailed article about this exciting project in an upcoming Journal. Watch for it and find out how you can get involved.
Congratulations to everyone who worked so hard to put this important fundraiser together. The kids really appreciate the efforts on their behalf. Each year the Boosters donate thousands of dollars to the school for extracurricular activities and equipment.
It’s great to know that the Booster Spirit is alive and well in our community. Thanks to everyone who bought a ticket and to all those that attended the dinner and purchased split-the-pot tickets during the event.
