Our Adopt-a-Class 4th Graders
Make Snowpeople for a Contest

Each holiday season the Bigfork Retail Merchants Association sponsors a snowman contest for the community. Contestants submit snowmen made from any kind of materials their imagination and creativity can come up with. This year the Journal thought it would be fun to see if our adopted class would like to enter the contest.
To give them a start on the process, we purchased six styrofoam snowmen and some hats. We suggested to the class that they decorate them in a patchwork style using old pieces of fabric that they brought from home.

A close up of the snowman reveals peppermint eyes and smartie mouth.
Parts of this snoman were good enough to eat!

.Philip (left) and Garrett work on their snowman, which included a snowy background made of cotton balls.

As you can see from the pictures, they had some fun with our suggestions and came up with some fantastic creations. Special thanks to Mrs. Trembath for her eager cooperation and enthusiasm. We are very proud of their efforts. If you missed seeing their creations during the art walk and holiday parade last Saturday, they are still on display at Frame of Reference in the Bigfork Village. We asked our cub reporter and the other students to provide some of the captions for these pictures and to share their thoughts about the project.
“We should do more projects like this because everyone liked it.”
“It was hard to think of something to put on it.”

Jacob, Shelby, Travis work on their creation while DJ watches.

Mrs. Trembath helps using the hot glue gun. She told us that the kids came up with their creations all on their own.

This skiing snowlady was made with pipe cleaner skis and poles. Doug, Kayla, and Lauren came up with this creation.
