The Bigfork PTA sponsored a fun project for students at the elementary school. I went to Mrs. Trembath's class to watch as they participated in the PTA project. Mrs. Saunders explained that the PTA had purchased 400 candy canes and materials to make the canes into creations. She showed the students how to use the candy canes, pipe cleaners, cotton balls, and little plastic eyes to make a reindeer. All the classes in the elementary school took part in this project. Mrs. Trembath's students jumped into the project with enthusiasm and came up with some very creative and unusual looking reindeer. After they finished, they were asked to decide where the candy was to be delivered. They had a choice of the Lutheran Home or The Salvation Army Holiday Dinner. |

The idea of this project was to allow the students the opportunity to do something special for those who are less fortunate and to enjoy a fun project at the same time. With help on the hot glue guns from Mrs. Saunders and Mrs. Trembath, the students had their project done in a flash. They decided to send their reindeer to the Salvation Army for their Christmas Dinner. "We liked the idea of giving something to people that could bring a smile to their faces," shared Matthew. "It's important to remember that Christmas is a time of giving." |

Congratulations to all the students that took part in this special project. We are proud of you! Right the camera captures Kayla busy building her reindeer. Mrs. Saunders is the PTA volunteer that brought the reindeer project to Mrs. Trembath's class. Her son Josh helped her with the presentation. Left D.J. Doney presents his reindeer creation for close inspection. |
